Født i Østrig. Blev efter en ikke særlig succesfuld skolegang afvist af Kunstakademiet i Wien. Deltog i 1. Verdenskrig, men modtog ingen forfremmelser. Fra 1920 arbejdede han for det nazistiske arbejderparti i Mønchen. I 1923 stod han i i spidsen for et oprør mod Weimar republikken. Sad i fængsel i 8 måneder, hvor han skrev Mein Kampf. Fra 1921 var Hitler führer for partiet. Fra 1933 var han diktator i Tyskland. Og i 1939 startede han 2. Verdenskrig. Begik selvmord 30. April 1945.
