I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met)
Bob Dylan

I canít understand
She let go of my hand
Aní left me here facing the wall
Iíd sure like tí know
Why she did go
But I canít get close tí her at all
Though we kissed through the wild blazing nighttime
She said she would never forget
But now morninís clear
Itís like I ainít here
She just acts like we never have met

Itís all new tí me
Like some mystery
It could even be like a myth
Yet itís hard tí think on
That sheís the same one
That last night I was with
From darkness, dreamsíre deserted
Am I still dreaminí yet?
I wish sheíd unlock
Her voice once aní talk
íStead of acting like we never have met

If she ainít feeliní well
Then why donít she tell
íStead of turniní her back tí my face?
Without any doubt
She seems too far out
For me tí return tí her chase
Though the night ran swirling aní whirling
I remember her whispering yet
But evidently she donít
Aní evidently she wonít
She just acts like we never have met

If I didnít have tí guess
Iíd gladly confess
Tí anything I mightíve tried
If I was with íer too long
Or have done something wrong
I wish sheíd tell me what it is, Iíll run aní hide
Though her skirt it swayed as a guitar played
Her mouth was watery and wet
But now something has changed
For she ainít the same
She just acts like we never have met

Iím leaviní today
Iíll be on my way
Of this I canít say very much
But if you want me to
I can be just like you
Aní pretend that we never have touched
Aní if anybody asks me
ďIs it easy to forget?Ē
Iíll say, ďItís easily done
You just pick anyone
Aní pretend that you never have met!Ē
